HotRod® XL
HOTROD® XL is a surface mounted fire-rated deflection bead tested to UL 2079. It provides 1 hr and 2 hr firestop solutions in joints for both standard wall and shaft wall types between flat concrete or fluted metal deck applications.
HOTROD XL provides 1/2″ nominal joint protection, utilizing firestopping technology to halt the passage of smoke, fire, and sound.
This solution combines a flat deflection bead with compressible foam and intumescent tape for a perfect seal along head-of-wall joints, providing a full 3/4″ of building movement.
Additionally, it is sound tested according to ASTM E90, with test reports available. It is tested in assemblies up to a STC 68.

- Provides a single step installation of both a code compliant firestop and finished drywall accessory in one piece
- Easily installs using spray adhesive and staples
- Installs on the face of the drywall with a perforated mud leg incorporated to accept joint compound
- Combines compressible foam, a vinyl concealment leg, and an intumescent strip to provide an aesthetically pleasing joint
- Installs fully cured and does not have temperature or humidity limits for installation
- Provides unlimited shelf life when stored indoors and kept dry in the original package
