Sure-Board® Shear FOR WOOD
Sure-Board® Series 200W is a steel sheet and medium density fiberboard substrate panel composite product that is installed on wood or steel framing members at points requiring shear.
Series 200W panels are manufactured by laminating a 22 gauge steel sheet and 1/8” medium density fiberboard.
Sure-Board® Shear for Wood panels go beyond typical shear panels, offering a key advantage for faster and easier installation. Thanks to the steel and MDF lamination, you can securely attach the panel using nails or screws. This flexibility allows Series 200W to work seamlessly with both wood and steel framing members, delivering exceptional results in either application.
Nationally approved for earthquakes and hurricane-force winds, Sure-Board is a value-tested, innovative solution for controlling imposed loads.
Sure-Board has both shear values and sound ratings, providing a complete design solution.
Sure-Board is available in the following standard configurations:
- 4’x8’, 4’x9’, and 4’x10’ standard lengths
- 1/8” MDF or 1/8” Panel Board thickness
- Sure-Board® is also available cut to specific custom lengths
- Simpe to nail or screw to wood studs/steel studs
- Consistently higher tested structural values compared to plywood

SOUND ASSEMBLIES
Tests performed in a NVLAP accredited laboratory in accordance with ASTM E90-04 confirm that Sure-Board, integrated into a number of wall assemblies, shows a reduction in sound transmission.
FIRE APPLICATIONS
Based on fire testing performed in 2002 at ITS test facility, Series 200W verified no adverse effects to any existing 1-hr and 2-hr fire rated assemblies.
