The historic Centennial building in St. Louis was transformed into Front Page Lofts, a modern apartment complex. D&L Painting & Drywall, tasked with the drywall work, sought innovative solutions to meet fire code requirements efficiently.
The contractor opted for Fire Bead, a fire-resistant deflection bead. This product simplified the process by combining firestopping and drywall finishing into a single step. Unlike traditional methods requiring multiple steps and materials, Fire Bead offered a time-saving and cost-effective solution.
The D&L team quickly adapted to using Fire Bead, enhancing efficiency and reducing labor costs. The product’s compatibility with concrete ceilings and the building’s low seismic risk made it an ideal choice.
While the project faced challenges due to the building’s location and condition, the use of Fire Bead streamlined the drywalling process, contributing to the overall success of the Front Page Lofts renovation.
