A large-scale dormitory construction project at a historic university presented a significant challenge for contractor Gibson-Lewis: rapid completion of hundreds of new dorms. Traditional firestopping methods, such as fire caulks, were time-consuming and prone to errors, hindering overall project progress.
To accelerate the firestopping process, Gibson-Lewis implemented Fire Gasket, a pre-formed firestopping product. Unlike traditional methods, Fire Gasket is applied directly to the framing track and allows for controlled movement while maintaining fire resistance. Its installation is quick and simple, requiring minimal skill or cleanup.
By adopting Fire Gasket, Gibson-Lewis significantly reduced labor costs and project timeline. The product’s ease of use enabled faster drywall installation and eliminated the need for specialized labor. The result was a more efficient construction process and substantial time savings compared to traditional firestopping methods.
